Shopify migration cost in 2026, by SKU count and integrations
A real Shopify migration in 2026 costs $15,000–$75,000 for a clean mid-market catalog and $75,000–$200,000 when SKUs, URLs, and integrations are the job. DIY apps move data for a few hundred dollars. They do not move SEO, checkout, or the stack your revenue sits on. Propeller publishes migrations at $75k–$200k.

Key takeaways
- Three products hide under “migration”: a data dump, a data dump plus theme, and a commerce cutover with SEO and integrations.
- Under 500 clean SKUs can be an app. Past that, the risk is redirects and systems, not CSVs.
- Magento and Salesforce Commerce Cloud cost more than WooCommerce or Squarespace at the same SKU count.
- The redirect map is a workstream. Skipping it is how organic falls 20–50% in a month.
- Rebuild and migration should be separate lines. Mixed numbers hide the expensive part.
Shopify migration cost at a glance
- DIY / Cart2Cart / LitExtension / Matrixify: $0–$1,500. Products, sometimes customers and orders. Not Propeller’s job.
- Freelancer, clean catalog: $1,500–$15,000. Data + light theme setup. Rarely Propeller.
- Mid-market agency cutover: $15,000–$75,000. Data, redirects, QA, launch. Lower edge of Propeller’s published band if scope is data-led.
- Plus / dirty stack / rebuild-in-place: $75,000–$250,000+ market; Propeller $75k–$200k. Catalog, SEO, integrations, controlled go-live.
- SFCC or heavy Magento + rebuild: $150,000–$500,000+. Migration $75k–$200k + Plus build $250k–$500k+. Two projects. Price them that way.
Cost by SKU count
SKU count is the easy lever. It is not the honest one, but it is the one finance asks for first.
- Under 200 sellable SKUs: app territory for data-only; $5k–$15k agency if clean; $15k–$40k if dirty or Plus.
- 200–1,000: $300–$2k in tools; $15k–$40k clean agency; $40k–$90k dirty or Plus.
- 1,000–5,000: tools struggle on variants; $25k–$75k clean; $75k–$150k dirty or Plus.
- 5,000–20,000: custom scripts; $50k–$120k clean; $100k–$200k dirty or Plus.
- 20,000+: engineering programme; $100k+ clean; $150k–$200k+ and a staged catalog dirty or Plus.
Count variants, kits, and unpublished drafts separately. “8,000 products” that are 1,200 styles × size/colour is a different map than 8,000 unique SKUs with empty option names.
Shopify’s own importer and Matrixify are fine for the cheap column. They are not a redirect strategy, a metafield model, or an ERP cutover.

Cost by source platform
Same SKU count. Different archaeology.
- Squarespace / Wix / Webflow: $3k–$15k clean mid-market; $15k–$40k dirty. Design rebuild more than data.
- WooCommerce: $8k–$25k clean; $30k–$80k dirty. Plugin replacements, PHP logic, URL sprawl.
- BigCommerce: $15k–$40k clean; $50k–$150k dirty. B2B price lists, checkout customisation.
- Magento / Adobe Commerce: $20k–$75k clean; $75k–$250k+ dirty. URL hierarchy, modules, ERP/PIM.
- Salesforce Commerce Cloud: $50k–$120k clean; $120k–$400k+ dirty. Cartridges, custom objects, rebuild.
- Custom / legacy: wide. You are buying reverse engineering.
Webflow and Squarespace look cheap until you admit the Shopify store is a new design, not a port. Magento looks expensive because it is. The modules are the store.
Propeller migrates from WooCommerce, Magento / Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, SFCC, Webflow, Squarespace, and custom stacks into Shopify or Plus.
What integrations add
Price these as adders on top of catalog + SEO. Do not let them vanish into “and we’ll connect your tools.”
- Klaviyo / email sync (not a full rebuild): $2k–$8k
- Subscriptions (Recharge, native, other): $8k–$25k. Billing history is the hard part.
- Search (Algolia, etc.): $3k–$12k
- Reviews: $1k–$6k
- Loyalty: $4k–$15k
- OMS / 3PL: $8k–$30k. Inventory truth at cutover.
- ERP / NetSuite / SAP: $20k–$80k+. Often bigger than the theme.
- PIM: $10k–$40k
- Wholesale / B2B price lists: $10k–$40k. Plus B2B helps. It does not finish the job.
- Custom middleware: scoped. Assume it exists if the current site is over four years old.
Two clean APIs keep you in the $75k band. ERP + 3PL + subscriptions is how a “simple replatform” becomes a Plus programme.
The SEO line item (do not skip it)
A migration that “keeps SEO” without a priced redirect workstream does not keep SEO.
- Full URL inventory (products, collections, blogs, filters you accidentally indexed, vanity campaigns)
- 1:1 map where the page still exists
- Deliberate 301s where it does not (retired SKUs → parent, dead blogs → hub)
- Metadata and structured data parity
- Canonical and pagination rules on the new store
- Search Console, sitemaps, and a watch window after DNS
Skipping this to save $8k is how a $4M brand buys a $40k traffic hole. Most of Propeller’s migrations treat redirects and tracking parity as core, not a nice-to-have.
What is in a $75k–$200k Propeller migration
- Discovery: platform, catalog, SEO surface, integrations, rollback
- Data: products, variants, customers, orders as required, reviews if they matter
- SEO: inventory, 301 map, structured data, Search Console
- Build alignment: the new storefront has to receive the catalog, not fight it
- QA on staging with a real subset, then a full pass
- Controlled cutover, DNS plan, analytics live
- Hypercare while the index and the 3PL catch up
Not automatically in that number: a net-new brand identity, a Hydrogen rebuild, photography, paid media, or “while we are at it, five new markets.” Those belong on the Plus / Hydrogen cost page.
Timeline
- App + DIY, tiny catalog: 1–3 weeks
- Clean Woo / BigCommerce, agency: 6–12 weeks
- Magento or custom, mid-market: 3–6 months
- SFCC or Magento + Plus rebuild: 6–9 months, often longer
- 20k+ SKUs or ERP in the cutover: staged. Do not pick a Friday in November.
Propeller does not publish a generic week count before discovery. Catalog and integrations set it. There is always a post-launch window. Launch day is not the end of the migration.
DIY vs agency
Use an app when under ~500 clean SKUs, URLs are simple, no ERP, and you can accept a theme rebuild as a separate, later job.
Hire an agency when organic is a real channel; subscriptions, wholesale, or a 3PL have to work on Monday; Magento, SFCC, or a custom stack; or someone has to own rollback. Cart2Cart will not stand in Search Console with you.
How to read a migration proposal
- SKU assumption, with variants defined
- Source platform named, including major modules
- URL count and whether 301s are a line
- Integrations listed, not “the stack”
- What happens to customers and orders
- Rebuild vs migrate, one number or two
- Cutover plan and rollback
- Hypercare in days, not vibes
If those eight are missing, the cheap quote is unfinished.
What Propeller publishes
Migrations $75k–$200k. Standard Shopify builds $100k–$150k. Plus implementations $250k–$500k+. Hydrogen $200k–$400k+. Partnerships from $5,000/month.
Santa Monica studio. WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, SFCC, Webflow, Squarespace, custom. Redirects and analytics are workstreams. If the right move is stay and fix, we will say that. Process detail lives on Shopify migration without chaos.

Questions
How much does a Shopify migration cost in 2026?
A mid-market Shopify migration typically costs $15,000–$75,000. Complex or Shopify Plus migrations with dirty catalogs, URL history, and integrations cost $75,000–$200,000. DIY apps move data for $0–$1,500 but do not cover SEO or systems. Propeller publishes migrations at $75,000–$200,000.
How much does it cost to migrate from Magento to Shopify?
Clean mid-market Magento to Shopify migrations often land at $20,000–$75,000. Magento or Adobe Commerce with ERP, custom modules, and URL debt runs $75,000–$250,000 or more, frequently with a separate Plus rebuild.
How much does it cost to migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify?
Clean WooCommerce catalogs often migrate for $8,000–$25,000. Plugin logic, memberships, and indexed filter URLs push agency migrations to $30,000–$80,000.
Will a Shopify migration hurt SEO?
Not if URL inventory, 301 redirects, metadata, and structured data are treated as a core workstream and validated in Search Console. Skipping redirects to save money is how stores lose a large share of organic traffic after cutover.
Is a Shopify migration the same as a store rebuild?
No. A migration moves catalog, customers, URLs, and integrations. A rebuild is a new storefront. They should be scoped and priced as separate lines even when one team delivers both.
How long does a Shopify migration take?
From a few weeks (tiny, clean) to 6–9 months (SFCC / Magento + rebuild). Scope after discovery. Do not lock a date from a homepage form.
How much does Magento to Shopify cost?
Clean mid-market: $20,000–$75,000. Dirty Magento or Adobe Commerce with ERP and URL debt: $75,000–$250,000+, often with a separate Plus build.
How much does WooCommerce to Shopify cost?
Often $8,000–$25,000 when the catalog is clean. Plugin logic, memberships, and indexed filter URLs push it to $30,000–$80,000.
